Mr Symon Msefula
Mr Msefula is a board member at Portland Cement with over 40 years of experience in the finance sector, including 21 years in leadership roles. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University, a Master of Science in Finance from Strathclyde University, and a Bachelor of Social Science in Economics from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College. His extensive expertise covers asset management, corporate finance, and financial strategy, playing a key role in driving financial growth and sustainability. Mr. Msefula has also undergone several executive training programs to further sharpen his leadership and financial skills. In addition to his role as the Chief Executive Officer of the Malawi Stock Exchange, he has served as a board member for 10 different institutions, showcasing his wide-ranging influence in both the public and private sectors.
Mr Leonnard Chikadya
Mr Chikadya is an Executive Board Director at Portland Cement, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience from his career that stretches over 30 years. In addition to holding distinguished leadership roles, Mr. Chikadya has vast expertise in strategic analysis and corporate governance in various industries which include Banking and finance, Hotel and Tourism service and Manufacturing. He has been instrumental in shaping the company’s vision building on the company’s heritage of being the first cement manufacturer in the country. Having served as Director at Portland Cement for over 10 years he has played a key role in steering the company to achieve great results. Mr. Chikadya holds an Executive MBA from the Maastricht School of Management/Eastern and Southern Africa and has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Malawi Polytechnic. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountants (FCMA) as well as a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA). Mr. Chikadya is Managing Director of Times Group and also serves as a non-executive director for various private sector and public institutions.
Mr. Gang Xu
Mr. Xu is a board member at Portland Cement and serves as the Vice President and General Manager for Overseas Business at Huaxin Cement Group. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Tsinghua University, Beijing, and two bachelor’s degrees—one in Safety Engineering from China University of Geosciences and another in Corporate Finance from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan. In his role, Mr. Xu oversees all Huaxin companies outside of China, driving international business growth and strategic development. His strong background in safety, finance, and leadership is instrumental in advancing Huaxin’s global operations.
Mrs Constance Musopole
Constance is a seasoned finance professional and executive leader with over 20 years of experience in the cement industry, much of it at the senior leadership level across Zambia and Malawi. She is a highly driven, results-oriented leader with a proven track record of directing key initiatives, including planning, formulating, and implementing solutions that align with business objectives and strategy. Beyond her role as CFO, Constance has also led Human Resources, Supply Chain – Logistics, and Procurement functions, as well as managed large-scale capital projects. She oversees Company Secretarial duties and is a key driver of organizational strategy. Constance holds an MBA in Leadership and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria, UK, and a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Malawi (now MUBAS), the Polytechnic. She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCCA) with memberships in ACCA and ICAM, exemplifying her dedication to financial excellence and leadership.
